Just start.

Just start.

That was the persuasive phrase coming from the lips of one of my dear friends and mentors recently. Just start. So much of life seems to begin with a “just start” moment, doesn’t it? Well, this is one of those moments. I am starting something – putting my thoughts out there for all to see, read, and hear. (Or, maybe just my mom.) And, to be honest, this start feels particularly vulnerable. With the start of anything new, vulnerability is sure to follow. But, some of the most vulnerable people I know are also some of the most courageous. So, I say, to heck with it, why not be vulnerable and courageous?

So, hey y’all, I’m Rachel. I am a Texan (Disclaimer: Texans always just start with this). I love studying and teaching the Scriptures and connecting people into the life of the local church. I love the Church. As broken and imperfect as it is, the Church is still where I have found the most hope, the most healing, the most truth, and the most grace.

I am also in graduate school, pursuing a degree in counseling. Having benefited from my own therapy through the years and seeing firsthand the relentless mental health challenges people are facing on a daily basis, the Lord led me to a journey of getting better equipped to care for people.

I have a big passion for learning from, developing, and encouraging other female leaders. After several years in the corporate world, there is much the Church can learn from the corporate world and the other way around. Leadership can be lonely, and I believe the more accessible leaders are to one another, the more we can grow and develop.

My prayer is that you find my words encouraging, at times, challenging (in a good way), and perhaps even comical. I need a daily dose of laughter to function each day.

Are you ready to just start? Let’s do this!
